ElevatEd is looking to hire tutors and editors with incredible analytical & creative writing abilities as well as compassionate communication skills!
All consultants, writing coaches, and editors at ElevatEd undergo rigorous training to provide our students with the highest quality of service, so you won’t have to worry about coming in unprepared! Training is self-paced and completely online; as a company, we value freedom and flexibility, so that you can thrive at your creative best!
About the Role
This position is entirely remote (conducted over Zoom), flexible, and part-time. You will spend up to 20 hours per week (10 hours minimum) completing the following:
College Consulting

Provide live, in-depth feedback and assistance with brainstorming for essays, interviews, resumes, recommendation letters and other college application materials

Craft on a college application essay from scratch together with students over a period of several months

While we have a standardized consulting curriculum, we may ask you to tailor sessions to your students’ immediate needs (with help from us, of course!)
Asynchronous Essay Editing

Provide topical (surface-level: grammar, diction, etc.) and intensive (in-depth: structural changes, content changes, etc.) on college application materials within the set turnaround time (12-48 hours)

Note that editors to spend approximately 50 minutes reviewing a 650-word college application essay
Writing Tutoring

Teach analytical/creative writing to groups of 2-3 students using our award-winning, multi-year curriculum

Mentor students in their writing journey over 1-3 years to help them develop critical thinking skills, clearly articulate expository and persuasive arguments, and prepare them to compete in contests ranging from Scholastic to John Locke

Lead and teach intensive writing bootcamps to small groups of up to 10 students during student breaks

Review and provide feedback for spring and summer bootcamp assignments
Administrative Responsibilities

Responding to emails promptly (within 24 hours)

Lesson/session preparation

Quarterly calls with parents

Quarterly Zoom check-ins with managers

Logging reports post-lesson for all students taught

Qualifications
Please note that all of the following qualifications are required for your application to be considered unless stated otherwise:

Native-level English speaker

Student at or recent graduate from an accredited college or university with high academic standing

Highly organized and timely with digital communication—responds to all emails within 24 hours

Thrives in a fully-remote environment

Strong, grounded, and lively teaching presence with articulate and empathetic oral communication skills

Flexible and able to work independently while collaborating with the team when necessary

Able to commit for a minimum of two (2) years

Previous tutoring, college consulting, and/or editing experience is a plus!
